Beaver's flimsy anvil shelf was one of the subtlest plot devices known to man, launching the "Steve's unfeasible afterlife adventure" storyline in Comic 90 in a way that noone could have foreseen.
Having resulted in the death of a titular character, the flimsy anvil shelf also shortly went on to cause the introduction of his temporary substitute, Stu.
