Panel 1

Shoe Goblin: "Now, as much as I'd like to entertain ye myself I'm afraid there be important matters I must be attending to..."
Shoe Goblin: "But don't worry, I'm sure my Shoe-bots will 'shoe' ye a warm welcome..."

Panel 2

Steve: "'Shoe us a warm welcome'?"
Shoe Goblin: "Hee hee hee!"
Steve: "I don't get it..."

Panel 3

Steve is KA-SHOE!'d by the Shoe-bots.
Beaver: "That's it Steve: You keep them occupied while I work on a plan!"

Panel 4

Steve is LACE-CHOKEd by one Shoe bot while the other YANKs the laces tightly.
Steve: "Glak! These shoes are killing me!"
Beaver: "Hmm... it might just work..."

Panel 5

Steve is tortured with a SHOE-HORN.
Beaver: "Hey!"
The Shoe-bot turns his head/shoe at Beaver's distraction.
Steve: "AKH!"
Beaver: "Yeah, you!"
Steve: "So ill-fitting!"
Beaver: "Your mother was a flip-flop!"

Panel 6

The Shoe-bots close in on Beaver menacingly as they GRRRRRRRRR...
Beaver: "And, uh, your father, er, had high heels!..."

• Beaver's taunt is a reference to the French soldier in Monty Python's Holy Grail "Your mother was a hamster and your father smelled of elderberries!". (James' note: no it's not!)
• "These shoes are killing me" is often said when one is wearing uncomfortable shoes, rather than being literally assaulted like Steve.
