Beaver and Steve are in the park, a squirrel is on a nearby tree, making NIK NIK sounds.
Steve: "Beaver, what is that weird rat thing doing?"
Beaver: "That's a squirrel Steve; it's gathering acorns so that it has food for the winter."
Beaver: "Now come on, let's go and play aviation pioneers while the wind is still up! I'll be Clément Ader, you can be Chuhachi Ninomiya!"
Steve's stomach grumbles loudly: "GRBL GRBL"
Beaver: "To the skies!"
An inside view of the hole in the tree.
Steve peeks in.
Steve throws the acorns up with a "TOSS!", and swallows them with a "GLAAA!".
Squirrel: "What the... my acorns!"
Steve eats the acorns with a "MONCH!".
Steve: "Waf acornf?"
Steve: "Wait - there's something under these acorns... diamonds!"
Steve pushes away the acorns with a "SCOOP!", and reveals the diamonds, which "SPARKLE!".
Squirrel: "So you figured it out... very clever..."
Squirrel: "But I'm afraid that now you know too much..."
The gun makes an ominous "CLI-ICK!".
[To be contd.]
- Clément Ader was a French engineer born in Muret, Haute Garonne remembered primarily for his pioneering work in aviation.
- Likewise, Chuhachi Ninomiya was an early aviation pioneer.
- Steve's line "waf acornf?" is a slight reference to his line "waf affl?" in Comic 14.
